Which is why the New Rochelle eatery recently hosted a complimentary holiday lunch for elderly citizens alone for the holidays.
This year, Dubrovnik invited seniors from the Maple Avenue Housing Center. The restaurant also partnered with New Rochelle's Hugh A. Doyle Senior Citizen Center (HDCC) identify those who may be unaccompanied and interested in this special holiday feast.
HDCC Entertainment Director Sarah Furlong created a lottery to help facilitate who may be most interested due to the 40-seat capacity.
The holiday lunch, held Wednesday, Dec. 27, included traditional Croatian holiday dishes such as Sarma (pickled cabbage stuffed with pork and beef,) a wood-oven roasted chicken, Pulpeti (Croatian meatballs made with beef, pork, onion, eggs and homemade breadcrumbs) and fresh linguini mixed with local organic vegetables.
A deejay volunteer was also on hand.
